The Capital Region Walk-n-Roll & 5K is a special event to recognize all SMA individuals and families from the surrounding parts of New York state. Started by the late Trooper David Cunniff, his mission was to raise 1 million dollars toward the cure for SMA in honor of his son, Caleb. By joining this event we are continuing on his legacy. The event takes place along the Mohawk River with a one-mile path to walk or roll and a timed 5k race. The day is filled with family-friendly activities and music. Light refreshments are provided. A ceremony will be at the heart of the event as we celebrate the lives and memory of those with SMA.

The Cure SMA Endurance Program is a nationwide series of races that brings runners together to train and fundraise in support Cure SMA’s mission of driving breakthroughs in treatment and care to provide those affected by spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) the support they need for today.

Because of the endless support and participation from Endurance runners Cure SMA has invested in groundbreaking research which has led to three FDA-approved treatments for SMA, supported direct services for thousands of people with SMA and their families, improved care through our Clinical Care Network, and expanded newborn screening to 99% of the US in partnership with our network of local advocates.

By supporting this event and raising life-changing funds, you will help support research and programs that continue to change the course of SMA for everyone affected from infants to adults. Together we are stronger, and together we will find a cure.
